Packard Parts...

Postby packard on Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:41 am

Hi Mal,

I thought that Kanter may have had this part... If not let me know and I'll keep an eye out.

P.S. None on ebay at the moment just checked :-)

Thanks for the thought.

Kanters probably do have it, but at a price, so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative.

:D

Hi Mal, I shall ask David Flack , " the Flackmaster" to have a look for you. He is a great guy and came out here a few years ago with his wife Ember. He would make a fortune if he was interested in Truffles. Peter

Peter, Don't worry about it for now as Wade has given me another lead to follow up. If that falls through then I'll get you to cast the net further afield. Thanks.Mal :D

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions but in the end I found a repairer here in Sydney, Ron of Mobile Instrument Service. Ron put a new bulb on the tube together with a new nut and recharged it with ether at a cost of $132GST incl, a lot cheaper than the $250 I had been quoted earlier elsewhere.

And below is my answer in the Packardinfo Forum regarding a query about gauge repair

Mal - what was the cost of the temp sender repair, and can a complete new sending line be provided if one were to have a gauge with the line cutoff at the back of the gauge

And David,...... And to answer your other query I rang Ron at Mobile Instrument Service and he said yes with a new bulb, beryllium/copper tube and armoured wire to a length of about 1.8M at a cost of about $200.[/quote]
