!925 packard sedan

G'Day Blokes,
I have just bought a 1925 6 cylinder 326 Packard sedan in licenced running order and am wondering if someone could tell me what type of spark plugs (Make and number) I should use in it ? I asked the local rep and he gave me some numbers that are completely useless. I also need to know what is a good oil to use in the engine, some of my mates are sugesting a straight 50 mineral oil but as it has a centrifugal oil filter I am wondering if it neads a multigrade. Also what do you use in the central chassis lube system ? I love this car and hope to do a lot of runs with the "missus" (Marg) in it ! I have already got the "Al Copone" hat and suit and am really looking forward to enjoying this classic yank icon .
Thanks blokes its nice to get to know you, I think I will be dropping in fairly regularley.

Vic,
From Mount Barker Western Australia

PS
The car I have recently aquired was owned by a former Packard club member Eric Richards, so if anyone is familiar with the car any help would be apreciated. I am a former Buick owner but moving up to a Packard means I have to find out a few basics again.

Vic Hayes.
(Publican of the Plantagenet hotel Mount Barker Western Austalia, drop in and see me and Marg if you are around here anytime)

Hi Victor,

Congragulations on your purchase. I'll find out this weekend what the best spark plugs to use are aswell as best form of oil for your car. I have also attached an image that I have of the car taken quite a few years ago. Its also nice to meet another publican with a Packard. I manage the Royal Hotel at Hill End NSW. I also extend the offer any time your around this way your more than welcome to call in and we'll talk Packards :-)

Kind regards,

Vic and Mat,

Pubs and Packards. Now that's a dangerous combination to put it mildly!

Saw your post on PackardInfo this morning and David McCredie has replied there and he'll also be at our run to Linnwood House @ Guildford on Sunday.

I don't expect you'll be flooded with Packards dropping in as it's a loooong way across the Nullarbor, but you never know.

All the best with the 326, from Mat's pic it's a real nice car.

And almost forgot, Welcome to the PACA Site and the world of Packards.

Hi Matt,
The email you answered on the 10 May was written by a good mate and I have only find the site with the return emails today.
It would be good if you have the information on the spark plugs (ngk) if possible and the best oil to run my pride and joy on.
Hope to here from you soon and how long have you been in the pub game?
Regards Vic Hayes

Vic,

If you don't get a complete answer here, and I want to support the PACA Site but the reality is it's not very busy, I suggest you post your questions on Packardinfo.com or peruse the posts there as there has been some discussions about which oils to use. Another option would be to contact Peter Toet (Mob 0408 697 105) PACA's Technical Officer who could probably answer your questions, and tell him I dobbed him in to you! Another possibility is Sam I....., but be prepared to have plenty of time so Sam can bend your ear.
