John,

My '41 120 has studs for the exhaust/intake manifold, 3/8" with coarse thread/fine thread either end. Is this what you're after? Couldn't find any a few months ago because 3 had snapped off but did come up with some 3/8" ones with coarse threads both ends and still have these if you want some.

Yes, I would like a couple Mal if ya don't mind. Peter made one but I still need one. He finally found a scrap piece to make one out of. The guy before Peter had bolted it together (actually "forced" it together") when studs are the norm.

Now if I can get that broken one out.........(wiping forehead before I even start).

I did get the plugs, points, condensor, rotor, cap, etc changed and it is running like a sewing machine right now. But won't know if the stall problem is gone till I get the exhaust back on and give it a good drive.

Thx
John

Hmmm I seem to be permanently in chat when I log on here now. Doesn't look like this site is going to get much use. I have posted here when a call would do, in hopes of helping it along, but oh well.

That's for the studs. I decided to use a spare exhaust manifold I had. It still had fresh paint on the INSIDE. All well and good except it had been drilled out and tapped for 7/16's (another slap forehead). Off to the parts store where I was told no 7/16's by a guy........much searching in dusty boxes produced 2 studs, then much more dust produced two nuts. Later I went back to the same shop to get some washers for something, and gee there were a lot of 7/16's stuff in the display.

I did go ahead and use two of your studs to put together the hot box rather than use the old bolts there.

I even bought a thermocoil and got the heat riser working (for all the good that will do).

Got Peter to tinker with the disturbed carbie when I got it all back together.

Anyway, for now, it is running like a champ and the stalling problem is gone (I think).

John,

Same here, I'll speak to Mathew and see whats what.

Great to hear all's going well now with the '40 and that you could find some use for the studs.

Just got back from a run down to Crookwell. They had a Swap Meet there today so I thought I'd give the '38 a good run. She went well, just got very hot on the way home and I had to stop to top up the radiator, other than that she never missed a beat during the 280 mile round trip.

Are you going to the run on the 9th Nov up to Wyong? I believe it was a very good day last year, although from Appin it's going to be a longer run.

Hope you can make it
